The last few weeks have seen interesting encounters. a visit to the heart of Berlin techno  and the sordid pleasures of the bergain to the menagerie in Belfast. The berghain brought me back to the days of vicos with the mayem and the confusion of detroit techno and strange faces embracing one and other in the early hours of the morning, subsequently  a second pack of cigarrettes were opened and fresh beers purchased at 8am. Back in the menagerie after another wonderful flight with paddy air and a hot chocolate incident that would have melted the paint of any meet wagon, the desert hearts did some melting of their own.Opening their set with par trash, a vivid reminder of the night myself and charlie mooney from the hearts explored 50s riffs , co writting on a spiritual diet of beer and wine . Par trash embodies classic momments like that of micheal J Fox in back to the future playing the endearing Earth Angel. The songs lyrics evoke feelings of redemption and the long road back to a lover. The band played a number of new songs including sea punk ,pounding as always from start to finnish , clearly a band just fresh from the studio. Berlin i miss you!
